2010 NBA Dunk Contest = EPIC FAIL!

Now during this weekend while many people are celebrating and spending quality time with their significant others, millions of men managed to sneak off for a couple of hours to watch the 2010 Dunk Contest. This year was packages as a year of high flyers and amazing dunkers. We had LA Laker Shannon Brown, who spent the 1st half of the season petitioning his candidacy by launching a website www.letshannondunk.com with clips of his high flying escapades throughout the season. There was Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace, Toronto Raptors rookie DeMarr Derozan who won a "dunk-off" against LA Clipper sophomore Eric Gordon, and 2 time Champion NY Knick Nate "Pocket Rocket" Robinson. Now this had disappointment written all over it after King James rescinded his candidacy after announcing that he would be a participant during last year's dunk contest. This contest was full of guys who cold "jump out of the gym" but had very little or no creativity whatsoever. I'm starting to realize that as time has gone on, guys who are in the dunk contest FORGOT about the purpose of the dunk contest: to entertain the crowd, fellow NBA players, and the world with amazing feats of athleticism that could not be done within the confines of a regulation NBA game. Now a days just being able to catch an opp off the backboard. or jumping over another individual has long lost its luster. I can't wait to hear what Jim Rome has to say about this. My personal solution is to have a "Tournament of Champions" bring back guys like "Vinsanity", "J-Rich", "Superman", Kobe, Nate (to defend his title), and 2 superstar entries i.e. "King James" and another superstar of your choice and have them go at it. Bring the buzz and the excitement back! I miss the days of calling, a friend and the first thing outta my mouth is "DID YOU SEE THAT!!??"...but then again I'm just one fan, with his own opinion..

Peace & Love
