Now for the longest time there has been the debate on whether on not rappers, actors, athletes should be role models. In my personal opinion, it is completely up to the parent(s) to determine who should be a role model for the child. Being as though it's the parents that instill morals, and values in the child it should be up to them to show the child what to aspire to be. If your child aspires to be a cop, find him the most outstanding cop you can and allow your child to model him/herself after that individual. The same can be said for anything that the child wants to be. Now as a part of Bun B's Hip-Hop & Religion class in which he teaches at Rice University in Houston he has a panel of artists that include Lupe Fiasco, Wale, Meek Mill, himself and others. There are a myriad of issues that arise in the debate from education, to music, to responsibility. Check the video and let me know how you feel.
