My Thoughts on LeBron.. Post 2K11 Finals..
So I just got done watching this Lebron interview with Rachel Nichols and felt compelled to speak my piece. First of all, I feel as though LeBron owes NO ONE an apology. Not the city of Cleveland, Dan Gilbert, NO ONE! LeBron made a decision on his behalf in which he felt was the best move for him! LeBron was playing in a city in which growing up, teased and tormented him. A city that looked down on the city he's from (Akron, Ohio). A city that he single-handedly lifted up and provided hope and inspiration, and an influx of capitol to flow through an otherwise financially desperate city through merchandising and the consistent sold out attendance at the Quicken Loans Arena. A city that didn't really embrace him as a budding high school standout, until he had a national buzz and was a lock as the number one pick in a loaded 2003 NBA draft. LeBron made the city of Cleveland relevant in professional sports.
Too many times we see good guys who may not have the "superstar" label that LeBron has, and are loyal to an organization, get traded and all we hear from management is "It was a business decision." So when a superstar in the prime of his career makes his own business decision he becomes "The Hated One" and is viewed as greedy.
People may not agree with the way LeBron handled his decision to joining the Miami Heat, by televising it and having the network calling it The Decision. That's their business. But the TV networks that televised it could have easily said no. People also ignore the fact that the proceeds generated from The Decision went to charity.
Then there are the people who run around claiming that LeBron isn't capable of winning a title so he had to grab onto the coat tails of Dwayne Wade to win. That is the most absurd thing ever. LeBron has shown that he has what it takes to lead a team to the NBA Finals. But the turning point was in the Olympics, he got the opportunity to play alongside other superstars and realized that it's way less of a burden to carry a team when there are shoulders that are just a big as his. So decided to have that carry over to the NBA. Can you fault him for wanting to work smarter and not harder?
Now I know his performance in the 4th quarter of the NBA Finals wasn't the most prolific exhibition of LeBron's talents. But let's not undermine what the Miami Heat accomplished and how they went about doing it. They DID go to the NBA Finals while having key players (Mike Miller & Udonis Haslem) suffering from injury and did that while trying to figure how their talents can coexist, and when is the right time to put the ball in the hands of which player.
Lastly, the letter written by Dan Gilbert, the Cleveland Cavaliers owner was just a blatant demonstration of what Diddy coined as Bitchassness!! That letter sounded like a letter the ex-girlfriend of the captain of a highschool's football team would write to show that she's not affected but is obviously sitting in her room crying and eating ice cream out of the tub with a ladle.
If I can offer some words to LeBron personally, I would say "Bron, there's no need to apologize. You made a decision that you felt was best for you, and that's all that matters. Ignore anything negative that anyone may have to say whether it's an analyst, former player, writer, fan etc, because they'd love to be in your shoes. Don't sweat the people out here who may hate you, because even Jesus was hated so what chance do you think you stand. Truthfully, the only thing The Decision may have cost you is a few million "fans" who don't know you anyways. As long you didn't lose any money, Gloria, Savannah, and your boys are fine and healthy, you have no worries. Playing the role of the villain didn't suit you, so go back to playing ball the way that got you in the position you're in now and everything will take care of itself." Peace and blessing to you and yours..

My New Obsession
I've been hearing this song for quite some time now and I just happen to be watching 106 & Park and she was debuting her video and it allowed me to put a face to the voice in which I had been infatuated with. Her name is Elle Varner, and aside from being a dope singer/song writer/musician, she's also very aesthetically appealing. So check out Ms. Varner in her debut video featuring FayettNam's own J.Cole.

Quality Laugh of the Day
So I just so happen to be sitting at my computer perusing through my usual sites and I'm on a message board and stumble across a thread entitled "What Makes Devin Hester So Good? Is He The Best Return Man Ever?" So being the sports aficionado that I am, I check out the thread. I read this one post that literally made me laugh out loud.
"He is an excellent returner I'm glad he is finding a niche, because back in the day at Miami, they kept moving him around because at WR he couldn't catch the clap in a ho' house and at corner he couldn't cover a pea with a blanket, finally they just started getting him the ball on swings and screens and shit he was Demps/Raney (or however you spell his name) before them, but the bears went through the same thing but he's getting it together at the WR position he is a valuable asset he is a game changer, sure it was some great returners back in the day but they never had to go against some of the speed Hester has went against or scheming he has gone against"
And for those who don't follow football and aren't familiar with Devin's exploits check him out..

LBJ6 & KD35 Strive For Greatness Pt. 1
Now with the NBA lockout entering it's 100th and some odds day, most guys would use the free time to slack off, or relax, or even head overseas to hoop. But Miami's LeBron James and Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant use the time to improve on their skills and overall physiques. As a HUGE LeBron James fan I dare someone to watch this and think that he doesn't deserve all the accolades.

Mike Vick Unfairly Criticized..
Now I'm getting ready to head to work soon and hopped on here to check the bus schedule thinking that I have to be out the door immediately, when I open my internet browser and see a sports headline on my homepage about Mike Vick and his "taunting" of a fan in his game against the Atlanta Falcons. The article was written by Chris Chase, and in the article he says:
"For all the improvements Vick and the various sycophants who blindly defend him say he's made, one thing he hasn't changed is that cocksure braggadocio. Pointing to the scoreboard is hardly a capital offense. It's still juvenile and petty and should be beneath most professional athletes, particularly ones who are in the midst of major career rehabilitation. Plenty of stars get booed and don't point up to the scoreboard like a hotshot high school quarterback."
I'm a little bothered by this. First of all, to refer to the people who support him, who include his family, family, close friends and a large percentage of African Americans across the country as "sycophants" is a bit out of line and unprofessional in my opinion. The dictionary defines the word sycophant as
"a self-seeking, servile flatterer; fawning parasite." So that's what you think of Mike's fans? Just a bunch of people blindly fawning and admiring Mike, as opposed to a bunch of people who have seen his rise from a phenom at Virginia Tech, watched him take the NFL by storm, as a man who failed his family friends and fans publicly, was given a 2nd chance when no one wanted him and watch him maximize his opportunity? Well tell us how you really feel then Mr. Chase?
Secondly, you decide to take the Skip Bayless route and nitpick at a fan who was heckling him as he's leaving the field because what is a serious head injury and decides to point to the scoreboard to show the fan that he should be concerned about what the Falcons aren't doing as opposed to him going to get medically evaluated. And you call that "juvenile and petty" and say that it should be beneath him? Who died and made you the judge on NFL decorum. You even acknowledged the fact that the action, would nonetheless go unnoticed.
Finally you say that "Plenty of stars get booed and don't point up to the scoreboard like a hotshot high school quarterback." Well Chris, your story make it obvious that in high school, you weren't the hotshot quarterback. You were probably the little guy in school, that spent his spare time dreaming of being the hot shot high school quarterback. Next time find something of more relevance to talk about..

A White Mike Vick?
Today I was watching ESPN's First Take (as I normally do on my day off) and the analysts on the show (Robe Parker of the Detroit Free Press and Skip Bayless) brought up the topic something along the lines of "if Michael Vick were a white QB in the NFL would he had been treated the same?"
I immediately said to myself that no he wouldn't for a couple of reasons. I always felt that each sport needed that one poster child for bad behavior and the consequences and repercussions that incur if you choose not to curb your behavior to suit that of the organization, and that the good ol' U.S of A is still plagued with underlying and masked racism.
So later in the day while on Twitter I hear the grumbling of an article wrote by an author by the name of Toure that wrote and article on the very same topic. There seemed to be a huge backlash over a picture that seems to represent what Mike Vick would look like as a white QB. (see pic at the top)
From my interpretation in reading the article, Toure expresses his feelings towards Mike and how he feels that his dog fighting actions weren't that of a impoverished black male growing up in the hood and achieving success, but that of an individual who had amassed the success and felt that his monetary successes gave him a sense of entitlement and invincibility.
Now I do agree with parts of the article and respect his opinion and POV, there are parts that I starkly disagree with.
Would a white kid have been introduced to dog fighting at a young age and have it become normalized to the extent that he builds it into his life after he joins the NFL? It's possible, but it's far less likely because what made Vick stand out among dog fighters is less race than class.
My answer to that is yes! Being afforded the opportunity to live in Virginia in 2007, I got the chance to explore different parts of the state and encounter a wide variety of people. From the wealthy independent business owners, stock brokers, to politicians, to athletes, to the dope boys, dudes stuck in the "trap", hood n****s, and everything in between. And the one thing about 80% of them had in common was a southern mentality and way of thinking. From the dudes in the hood, to the wealthy business men, they ALL talked about dog fighting. (mind you, I'm not a dog lover or anything) It was a way of life for them! It's just something that they did. Just the same way it would be normal for someone to catch a train, bus, or cab in NYC. The article just makes it seems as though only black impoverished people were a part of the dog fighting.
Another part of the article I found hard to grasp was when he asked.
"If Vick grew up with the paternal support that white kids are more likely to have (72 percent percent of black children are born to unwed mothers compared with 29 percent of white children), would he have been involved in dog fighting?"
This question seems a bit out of place for me because like I said experiencing first hand that a lot of black males that I encountered that were poor had both parents around and were still into dog fighting, but again YES! they would have because a lot of successful white people that I encountered were married with children and the father's were active in their children's lives fought dogs because that was the way of life down there.
Aside from those two points I enjoyed the article and it made me think enough to make me blog about it. Keep up the amazing work and much success to you and your upcoming book.
P.S. Please don't take the time out to respond to all that stupidity on Twitter. It'll exhaust you sooner than later.

To Aaron Gonzalez... From OchoCinco... With Love
With the shortened off-season the Free Agency has been a downright free-for-all. There are bunch of old faces in new places and one of the notably interesting trades has been former Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad OchoCinco going to the New England Patriots. Now we all know that a few years ago (2008 I think?) Chad leagally changed his last name from Johnson to "OchoCinco" for marketing and branding purposes. But now with the trade to New England there lies a dilemma. Patriots TE Aaron Gonzalez wears the number 85 and there would be a bit of a problem if Chad had to don another number in NE. Usually this process is solved with some monetary exchange but with Chad being Chad he proposed this letter to Aaron instead. Enjoy!

Top 10 IIllegal Baby Names (Around the World)
Just stumbled across this and found it pretty interesting. So I decided to share with you all.. Enjoy!
3) Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 (Sweden)
No, we didn't fall asleep on the keyboard. That is an actual name a Swedish couple tried to inflict on their son back in 1996. Apparently the name is pronounced 'Albin' (we're not sure how), and the parents chose it as a protest against Sweden's admittedly strict naming laws. Tax authorities must give their blessing to both first and surnames before they can be used.
Has Sweden banned any other names? Oh yes. Some favourites include Metallica, IKEA, Veranda and Q. Google was OK though.
4) Gesher AKA 'Bridge' (Norway)
Back in 1998 those nasty Norwegians threw a woman in jail (admittedly for only two days) when she failed to pay a fine for giving her son an 'unapproved' name. Eccentric Kristi Larsen said she was instructed in a dream to name her son Gesher (Hebrew for 'Bridge'), but the court were having none of it. Kristi did have 13 children already though, so maybe she had just run out of ideas.
Has Norway banned any other names? Undoubtedly, though in recent times they have replaced their list of officially sanctioned names with a general ban on monikers featuring swearing, sex and illnesses.
5) Chow Tow AKA 'Smelly Head' (Malaysia)
Unlike many countries which are gradually relaxing name laws, Malaysian authorities have cracked down on unsuitable titles in recent years. In 2006 government killjoys published a list of undesirable names that weren't in keeping with the religious traditions of the country – such as Cantonese moniker Chow Tow – which means 'Smelly Head'.
Has Malaysia banned any other names? Lots more Chinese efforts such as Ah Chwar ('Snake'), Khiow Khoo ('Hunchback'), Sor Chai ('Insane'). Malays should also steer clear of Woti, which means 'Sexual Intercourse'.
6) @ (China)
With more than a billion fellow countrymen, finding a unique name in China is difficult. Perhaps that's why one couple called their baby the '@' symbol – in Chinese characters it apparently looks a bit like 'love him'. Bless. Unsurprisingly, however, the authorities were less sentimental and publicized the moniker as an example of citizens bringing bizarre names into the Chinese language.
Has China banned any other names? The police have control over all names given to children because they issue identity cards, but details of rejections are not widely circulated.
7) Miatt (Germany)
Country living up to stereotype alert! Surprise, surprise the Germans are somewhat officious when it comes to baby naming laws. Regulation-loving Deutschland has an entire department (the Standesamt) which decides if names are suitable. Miatt was rejected because it didn't clearly show whether the child was a boy or a girl, but sometimes the decisions are somewhat arbitrary...
Has Germany banned any other names? The likes of Stompie, Woodstock and Grammophon were turned down, whereas the similarly strange Speedy, Lafayette and Jazz were allowed.
8) Anus (Denmark)
What is it about Scandinavian countries and name laws? The Danes are even tougher than the Swedes in this regard, with parents given 7,000-odd names to choose from by the government. Special permission is needed to deviate from the list, with ethnic names, odd spellings and even compound surnames forbidden. Luckily for him (we assume it's a 'he'), Anus was one of 250-odd names rejected each year.
Has Denmark banned any other names? Well, Pluto and Monkey had lucky escapes...
9) Ovnis (Portugal)
Before naming your child in Portugal, best consult this mammoth, 80-page government doc (and have it translated to English) that tells you which names you can and can't use. It's pretty strict (and random) – Tomás is OK but Tom isn't – and celebs can forget about the likes of Apple and Brooklyn, which aren't even on the banned list. Essex girls rejoice, however – Mercedes is allowed!
Has Portugal banned any other names? There are more than 2,000 names on the reject list, including Ovnis - Portuguese for UFO.
10) Akuma AKA Devil (Japan)
Here's a name the Pope definitely wouldn't approve of. In 1993 a Japanese parent called his son Akuma (which literally means Devil). The authorities decided this was an abuse of the parent's rights to decide a child's name and a lengthy court battle ensued. Eventually the father backed down and junior got a new, less demonic name.
1) Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii (New Zealand)
New Zealand law bans names which could cause offense to a 'reasonable' person. Good thing too - the country is a stupid name hotspot. We found a couple from the islands who tried and failed to call their son '4Real', but nothing beats the ridiculous moniker above. It belonged to a 9-year-old girl before a judge had her renamed during a custody battle. 'It makes a fool of the child,' he said. It certainly made application forms a pain in the butt.
Has New Zealand banned any other names? Oh yes. The judge listed some that were also blocked: Fish and Chips (twins), Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit. Number 16 Bus Shelter and Violence were allowed.
2) Venerdi AKA 'Friday' (Italy)
Maybe this is what the Pope was talking about. Back in 2008 a court banned an Italian couple from calling their child Venerdi (translation: Friday). The judges reckoned the name - taken from 'Robinson Crusoe' - would expose the boy to 'mockery' and was associated with 'subservience and insecurity'. The parents, however, might have the last laugh; they threatened to call their next child Mercoledi (Wednesday).
Has Italy banned any other names? Italian courts can step in 'when the child's name is likely to limit social interaction and create insecurity'. In Turin, Andrea was rejected (and changed to Emma) as it's a boy's name in Italy. Dalmata has also been rejected, as it means Dalmatian.

Lupe Fiasco vs Bill O'Reilly
In an interview with Bill O'Reilly rapper Lupe Fiasco is the invited guest to speak on a piece of commentary that was taken out of context. Lupe was asked about a line in a song (Word I Never Said) off of his new album L.A.S.E.R.S where he said
"I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshit
Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets
How much money does it take to really make a full clip"
How much money does it take to really make a full clip"
The context and the idea of the song and the tone in which those lyrics were totally misconstrued in typical Bill O'Reilly fashion where it lead to the accusation of calling president Barack Obama a terrorist.

Serious Trouble for the Golden Arches
Over the weekend there has been a very disturbing picture circulating around the internet of what looks like an official notice on McDonald's letterhead saying that African American patrons will be charged an additional $1.50 due to a string of robberies at that location. McDonald's HQ released a statement via Twitter saying "That pic is a senseless & ignorant hoax McD's values ALL our customers. Diversity runs deep in our culture on both sides of the counter." Hopefully the fast food chain can find a way to remedy this situation and maintain its public image.

Top 5 Things People Regret While On Their Death Bed
1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people have had not honored even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. It is very important to try and honor at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realize, until they no longer have it.
2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.
This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence. By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.
3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result. We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly,in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
Often they would not truly realize the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved.Everyone misses their friends when they are dying. It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end. That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.
5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.
This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realize until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again. When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Super pop-star, meg a diva, Beyonce Knowles had been praised for putting on amazing performance on the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. End of the World Fail
I'm sure by now you've all realized that Family Radio host Harold Camping had predicted the end of the world on May 21st, 2011 at 6:00 pm. Now judging by the time stamp on this post, it's a little beyond that. For a man to such a heralded religious leader and a such a peruser of the Word, it clearly says in Matthews 24:36 that "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
But sadly Mr. Camping has again "predicted" that the Rapture will happen on October 21st of this year.. So stay tuned..

Fox News Needs To Change
It's now come to point where I think we as a people, not just black but everybody should rise up and have a march against Fox News. I don't know exactly (but I'm willing to find out) is behind the propaganda that is being emitted from that putrid news station. Fox News has been consistently portraying any and everything associated with president Obama, and minority groups in the worst possible light. Just recently with the killing of OSAMA Bin Laden Fox News "mistakenly" types
Now, they're attacking the president and the First Lady in regards to a function that was held at the White House and rapper/actor,philanthropist Common was a special invited guest. What does Fox News do? They find at least 2 buffoons to place on a panel to do nothing but downgrade and bad mouth what the First Family is doing. This panel discussion is a prime example of what happens when closed-minded individuals look at something, refuse to do research and take things completely out of context all for the sake of trying to make themselves look intelligent, and to deface the reputation of another individual..
Something has to be done. This country was established on idea and belief of "by the people, for the people" and Fox News is clearly not by me or for me. So in conclusion I'll quote a recent trending topic on Twitter started by rapper Talib Kweli by saying #FuckFoxNews..
