Not too long ago I saw a video of a young woman from Toronto Canada (the same place Drake is from) singing a cover of India Aire's "Ready For Love" then I swear one week later I see a video for a song she has out called "It Kills Me" and since then I've been hooked. This soulful singer/song-writer is the NEXT BIG THING! She has an old school sound with very new school R&B appeal. Also PLEASE support her a cop or but her album on iTunes called The Bridge, believe me you will not be sorry.

This right here is just another one of those things that needs to stop.. The support of ignorance through music.. I don't know much about this Wocka Flocka character and quite frankly with a name like Wocka Flocka, what much is there to know. But what I do know is that we have to stop the popularization of guys like him. We can't allow guys like him to become wealthy while he exudes so much ignorance. Here's a clip of him trying to be interviewed and after about 30 seconds it just gets too hard to watch or listen to because his ignorance just gives me a headache..

Let's Put This to Rest!

Now with it being the LAST day of 2009, let us PLEASE make the conscious effort to put a stop to the way media is portraying US! And by us I mean black people/African Americans! I'm tired of some rich white corporate executive siting behind his desk thinking of new ways to portray US as a culture, a people, and society, in such a dark, disgusting, and vile manner. Especially with the masses fixated on what they think is "reality television". Shows like Flavor of Love, Real Chance of Love, and this new show on TLC called One Big Happy Family is depicting an obese black family as a real-life "Klumps". We have to stand up to this type of stereotyping and bold face degradation of our people. Because in their eyes if we're not running, jumping, shooting, stealing, committing acts of violence, fighting, cursing, and having illegitimate children, then we're not worth watching.

As a black man living in America, I'm conscious of the history of racism, and segregation that African Americans have endured. I know of the hardships and the difficulties people struggled through and some have overcome. R.I.P. Alaina Reed Hall

Yet another one of the entertainment industries finest has left us. The wonderful Alaina Reed Hall most notably from 227 and as Olivia Gordon's mother on the children hit television show Sesame Street has left us after a long and hard-fought battle with breast cancer. She was 63 years young at the time of her passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family.

R.I.P. Brittany Murphy

It's been a very discouraging year for the entertainment and sports industry as one by one we kept losing people. It's again sad to report that another star has fallen. Brittany Murphy (age 32) passes away from what has been reported as "natural causes". Brittany is most remembered for her roles in Clueless starring alongside Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash, and in her role in 8 Mile alongside Eminem and Mekhi Phifer. My condolences go out to her husband and her family..

This 4 of a Kind Beats Any 2 Pair...

Here's an uplifting story of the "Crouch Quadruplets" of Danbury Ct. They are high schoolers with impeccable academic achievements and ALL four of them were just recently accepted to the prestigious Yale University. Although they share the same genetic make-up they're individually unique. Ken (the academic standout), Ray (the student athlete), Martina (the artist) and Carol (the writer). Now the cost of such a heralded institution isn't cheap but their parents are willing to find a way to make it possible. Congrats to them and they're continued success!!

P.S. Anyone fortunate enough to invest in their future should be encouraged to do so.

R.I.P. Chris Henry

Today is a sad day in the world of sports because we've lost another budding star. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry passed this morning due to injuries suffered from falling out the back of a pick up truck his fiance was driving. Check out the full story here. Even though he's had a troubled past he was making strides in turning his career around and will be dearly missed. My condolences go out to his fiance, children and family.
